Jonathan Sederak

(B.A '10 Psychology, M.A. '14 Counseling (School Concentration)) 

Sederak went to the University of Northern Colorado and earned an Educational Specialist Degree in Educational Leadership and Special Education Administration. Since 2014, he has worked in the Township High School District 214 in different positions, with his current positions as District Coordinator for Special Education and as a counselor.   Sederak is also working on a doctorate in educational leadership and to be endorsed as an superintendent. 

Bill Harrison

(M.A. ‘15 Clinical Mental Health Counseling)

Harrison published an article titled “Counseling people in the performing art” in Counseling Today, the membership magazine of the American Counseling Association.

Esmeralda Mora 

(M.A '15 Latin American Literatures and Culture)

Mora released a book with Wayside Publishing, titled "Los Quince de Raquel," a Spanish-language children's book based on her experiences as a Mexican-American teen who had her quinceañera in Guerrero, Mexico. She currently works as a director with the Language Learner Literature Advisory Board.

Ashley Agron

(B.A. ‘16)

Agron was recently highlighted in an online story featuring the NEIU Alumni Relations Student Philanthropy efforts. Agron currently works as the assistant director of alumni relations at ŷϷ and is pursuing a master’s degree in Community and Teacher Leaders at NEIU. She recently earned a master’s degree in Community and Teachers Leaders. 

Elise Taylor

(M.A. ‘17 Communication, Media and Theatre)

Taylor was admitted into a Ph.D. program in Communication at Purdue. Her research will focus in media, technology, and society.

Emily Brown

(M.A. '17 Literacy Education)

Brown worked as an eighth grade reading teacher at Robert J. Richardson Middle School. Brown was also a finalist for the 2023 Golden Apple Award for Excellence in Teaching.

Sherry Williams

(B.A. ‘17 Nontraditional Degree Program)

Williams is the president and founder of the Bronzeville Historical, founded in 1999. Over the years, Williams has documented Chicago’s black history. The organization has provided historical presentations, exhibits, and seminars in schools, churches, libraries and park districts. 

Ryland Pietras

(B.A '22 Communication, Media and Theatre)

A lifelong fan of journalism, Pietras has recently been part of the WBEZ NextGen multimedia project, which highlights the different individuals in Chicago. He picked a recent alum for the project, Erwin Lopez-Rada, titled "From the mountains to Lake Michigan: A search for ‘peace’". During his time at NEIU, he won several awards related to his journalism pieces with the NEIU student newspaper, the Independent. Since graduating, he has worked freelance in different publications. He is also involved with WZRD, NEIU’S student-run radio station.

Wendy Jeter

(B.A. '22 Justice Studies)

Jeter was spotlighted as the Associate of the Week in the Mitchell Hamline Law Journal of Public Policy and Practice, a student-run journal from the Mitchell Hamline School of Law, in Saint Paul, Minnesota. Jeter also started a Law Clerk internship at the Bayonne Firm, a firm focused on criminal law. 

Anthony Ross

(B.A. '06 Environmental Studies & M.A. '14 Geography and Environmental Studies)

Anthony Ross is the founder and Director of Environmental & Public Health International, a private advisory firm focused on protecting public health in communities by improving the quality of drinking water.

They offer drinking water training on the Flint Water Crisis to public water systems, state primacy agencies, and federal regulators.

Prior to forming Environmental & Public Health International in July 2021, Anthony served as an Environmental Scientist for over 12 years with the United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). He served as EPA’s Flint Safe Drinking Water Act Emergency Coordinator from late 2016 until June 2021, supporting efforts to ensure safe drinking water for Flint residents. He worked closely with the City of Flint, Flint’s public water system, and the state of Michigan to ensure compliance with EPA’s Safe Drinking Water Act. He also provided technical assistance to Flint and the state of Michigan to help develop strategies to replace lead service lines in Flint at a very high rate while maintaining Lead and Copper Rule compliance.
