WEBCAPE 2.0 language placement exams

WebCAPE 2.0 currently offers:

• Chinese (Mandarin) Reading and Grammar
• English (ESL) Grammar Listening and Reading
• French Reading and Grammar
• Spanish Reading and Grammar

It is easy to self-register to take these exams anywhere and at any time. You only need your Nmail address, student ID number and to know what test(s) you need to take to find the appropriate class, using a computer to print the results page. View the demonstration video below to find out more. When ready to take a test, please read the following instructions.

Read these instructions before taking the online placement exam

1. For languages without online exams, contact the instructor for appropriate placement.Only the first (earliest) exam result will be used for course placement purposes, not repeated exam attempts.
2. If you need permission to enroll (prerequisite override), contact Denise Cloonan at d-cloonan@neiu.edu or Jeanette Hernandez at j-hernandez-kalin@neiu.edu at the main department office in Room LWH 2040.
3. Students without an NEIU student ID number can take the exam in person at the Language Learning Lab (Room LIB 451) on the fourth floor of the Ronald Williams Library.
4. When prompted, carefully enter your name and nine-digit student ID number.
5. At the end of the test, print the WebCAPE Score Report page or save as PDF for your records and to claim credit under the Back Credit Policy.
6. Begin the test by clicking the first Quick Link on the right of this page.
