How to Apply for Scholarships

NEIU builds financial aid packages with two types of scholarship awards — need- and merit-based. We use the information included in your Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA®) or Alternative Application for Illinois Financial Aid to determine need-based awards, including both scholarships and grants. We then assess your grades, test scores and other criteria for merit- and talent-based programs.

To optimize your financial aid award, we encourage you to complete the NEIU Scholarship Application along with your FAFSA® or Alternative Application and apply to both institutional and outside scholarship programs.
