Supervised by teaching faculty in the Department of Special Education, graduate students perform an internship as educational clinicians and offer assessments to identify learning difficulties in children and youth, 6 to 18 years of age.The Service Center evaluates children and youth (in either English or Spanish) in the areas of reading, mathematics, and written language, as well as providing emotional/behavioral supports.For qualifying families, the Service Center can provide a short-term individual education plan based on the strengths and needs of the child and deliver instruction in a one-to-one setting.The Service Center offers such services to residents of the City of Chicago and its surrounding communities at nominal fees. However, due to limited space and availability, all services are offered on a first come, first served basis. Please note, instructional services are intended for children and youth with identified disabilities (or suspicions of the presence of a disability).
