TEACHER LICENSURE PROGRAMS K 12

The Teacher Licensure Programs (TLP) are for students who hold a bachelor’s degree and are interested in teaching in disciplines that are B-12 specific. The professional education sequences are offered in the following programs:

Elementary Education with Bilingual Endorsement 1-6
Middle-Level Education, Grades 5-8

The professional education sequence in each program provides students with background in educational foundations, curriculum development, and teaching methods, along with field experiences necessary to be successful in today’s diverse classrooms. The programs offered through the Daniel L. Goodwin College of Education prepare dedicated teachers with the skills, expertise and pedagogy to meet the needs of 21st century students.

Upon completion of the program requirements, students have:

Completion of the Teacher Licensure Programs will satisfy all standards for teacher licensure as required by the Illinois State Board of Education. ŷ��Ϸ�� Illinois University has not made a determination as to whether this education degree program meets the educational requirements for licensure or certification in any of the other 54 U.S. states and jurisdictions. Specific requirements for licensure or certification in states other than Illinois vary from state-to-state. In some cases, you may need to take additional coursework or exams to meet individual state requirements and/or you may need to complete background checks.

A depth of knowledge in their chosen academic discipline;
A knowledge of the principles of human growth and development;
A knowledge of students with varying racial, cultural, and socioeconomic backgrounds;
A knowledge of the wide range of abilities and special needs of students; and
The ability to apply their knowledge and skills as they develop effective learning experiences for students during the methods and clinical components of the professional education sequence.
