How to Apply as a Transfer Student

Understand the general admissions process for all incoming transfer students:

Complete Your Application

Review requirements for transfer students, including GPA and credits, before submitting your application. We additionally recommend filling out your Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA®) or Alternative Application for Illinois Financial Aid and the NEIU Scholarship Application to maximize your financial aid award.

Send Transcripts

All you need to do is apply and provide official transcripts from each college you have attended. When received, we process your application for admission.

Accept and Enroll

Once admitted, meet with your degree program advisor for your plan of study, and then enroll in your first semester of courses. Be sure to review and accept your financial aid award, understand the results of your credit evaluation and sign up for Orientation Day for Transfer Students.

Credit By Examination

Receive credit for Advanced Placement (AP), International Baccalaureate (IB) and CLEP exams.
